Politics vs. Religion?

October 17th, 2010 § 1 Comment

I recently had a good conversation with a friend, a woman of dignity and honor. We exchanged words regarding our government and religion. She was upset with the fact that many members of the body of Christ are against the government or plain said, Obama. We are called to respect authority, considering God has put each and all authorities in place. To pray for our nation, that God would have His way. That He would bless and pour his love on this nation… you get the picture. Still, what inspired me were my dear friends words, a perspective no-one usually see’s nor hears about, none the less think.

I really don’t like combining politics and religon. I lived in Turkey when it was Muslim and I lived in a Buddhist country – they do not respect their citizens/women as much as the USA does. I feel incredibly blessed to live in the USA and I wish people who demonize our form of government could live in those countries as an oridinary citizen for one year.

I don’t answer my door to find beggars with no hands because the religon/government thought that was a just punishment for a poor person stealing food. I haven’t had to hide in my home while a man punishes his wife outside our door – to leave a bloody mess no one comments on.

We are so blessed – and it starts with us praying for our government and recognizing that politicians are humans and it is our responsibility to vote for the best person for the job and then pray for them like no-bodies business.

I really believe that politicians and the media are just stirring up the populace to fill us full of fear – to take our eyes off of God so that they can manipulate us.

Who needs terrorists? We’re doing it to ourselves.

§ One Response to Politics vs. Religion?

  • Leah Cox says:

This compelling message about our Government should prick our hearts to be the true men and women of God who actually choose to love instead of hate, to pray instead of curse. To thank God for who He is, but then to pray our eyeballs out about the rebellion we see in our Government but to intercede fiercely with genuine love for the precious population in other countries that are subjected to horrifying, degrading, and heartless killings daily all for the sake of Government.
